Atrial Fibrillation example three



The top two traces on this strip are EKG, the third is arterial pressure, and
the last is pulmonary artery pressure.  The rhythm is atrial fibrillation
P-waves are not present and the R-R intervals are irregularly irregular.  Note
that the QRS duration is 0.12 seconds with no positive deflections in the V1
lead, indicating a left bundle branch block.  No part of the QRS is above the
baseline in the V1-lead, so this is a left bundle branch block.  This strip also
demonstrates Starling's law of the heart: the longer R-R intervals, which
indicate longer ventricular filling times, give increased stroke volumes and
thus higher pressures.
