Sinus Pauses example one



Notice the appearance of regular sinus rhythm with two delayed beats.
There are no deflections between the T-waves of beats four and ten, and the
P-waves of beats five and 11.  These pauses are therefore brief sinus arrests,
with no ectopic beats occurring during these pauses.   If an ectopic beat did
occur within these pauses, it would be as if the site of origin (pacemaker)
of that beat had escaped the control of the dominant pacemaker, and thus
would be called an escape beat.
